Most manufacturers recommend your air conditioning is serviced every 18 months — but they don't include it in their service schedules, so it gets forgotten until the first hot day. Our technicians can service systems on either gas, the older R134a and the newer R1234yf, so it doesn't matter what you drive.
An air-con service isn't just a top-up. We recover what's left, vacuum the system to pull out moisture, check it holds pressure, then refill with the exact weight of refrigerant and oil the manufacturer specifies.
Five signs your air conditioning needs a service
- Not cooling — nothing from the vents, or it blows hot when it should be cold (or vice versa)
- Slow to cool — taking longer than it used to for the cabin to get comfortable
- Strange sounds — noises from the system when the air-con is switched on
- Water inside the car — water under the car after running the air-con is normal; inside it isn't
- Bad smells — a musty smell from the vents is a sure sign it needs some attention
Leak finding and repairs
If the system won't hold pressure, a regas will only last a few weeks. We'll add UV dye and trace the leak — condensers stoned from the front are the usual culprit — and quote for the repair before doing anything else. We also replace compressors, driers and pipes.
Pricing is for up to 500g of gas; larger systems may need more and are priced accordingly.
