Every tyre we fit is balanced as standard, and we'll check your alignment while the car is on the ramp — the fastest way to wear out a new set of tyres is to fit them to a car that's pulling to one side.
How do I know when my tyres need changing?
If your tyres show any of the following, get in touch — they may need replacing:
- Reduced tread depth — the legal minimum is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre
- Cracks or splits in the sidewall
- Blisters, bulges or cuts
- Vibration while driving
- Unusual noise
- Old age — check the four-digit date code on the sidewall (week and year of manufacture); if a tyre is over five years old, consider replacing it
The 20p test
Slot a 20p coin into the main tread grooves. If the outer band of the coin is hidden, your tread is above the legal limit. If you can see the band, the tyre is close to or below 1.6mm and needs looking at. Check in a few places around each tyre — wear is rarely even.
